The Study of Religion (Values and Norms) in Hanover offers an academic, non-religious and critical examination of the phenomenon of religion, as well as the consequences arising from the separation of certain human actions and ideas from a social sphere defined as ‘religion’.
In doing so, our students acquire knowledge of a wide range of religious traditions, both from History and from the present. At the same time, they develop a critical, historical, discursive and postcolonial perspective on the construction of the category of ‘religion’, in order to understand how this gives rise to the phenomenon of ‘religions’.
