The reproduction of religion
The key research area of the Institute for the Study of Religion focuses on the various social and political arenas in which religion, in the form of actors, discourses, symbols and institutional structures, influences social debates and processes.
The diverse debates and conflicts surrounding religion in schools (e.g. regarding the wearing of religious symbols) or the ‘Islamisation’ of the migration debate serve as illustrative examples of such public arenas in which religion plays a role in specific contexts whilst simultaneously being shaped by them.
