FAQ LeibnizCard and Semesterticket

  • What is the LeibnizCard?

The LeibnizCard primarily serves as your student ID and semester ticket, but also contains other practical functions for your university life. You can find more information here.

  • How does the semester ticket work?

All students at Leibniz Universität Hannover are entitled to the semester ticket, the cost of which is included in the semester fee. The semester ticket at LUH is one of the most comprehensive in Germany: On the one hand, it includes the GVH ticket, which entitles the holder to use all public transport buses and trains in the Hannover region. Secondly, the semester ticket is valid on all local trains (not ICEs) within the states of Lower Saxony and Bremen. Outside Lower Saxony and Bremen, the semester ticket can also be used to travel to some cities such as Hamburg, Lübeck or Hengelo (NL). Within these cities, however, the respective tariff zones apply.
