Exchange Cooperations

The Institute for the Study of Religion has arranged an exchange programme for students with some foreign universities. Depending on the university, our students can study 1-2 semesters in the respective degree programmes of our partner universities. Possible locations are currently Odense (Denmark, Danish-speaking), Rome (Italy, Italian-speaking or English-speaking) and Stockholm (Sweden, Swedish-speaking or English-speaking).

Erasmus+ mobility grant

The cooperation with the three partner universities takes place within the framework of Erasmus+ agreements. The Erasmus+ programme provides funding for a stay abroad as part of a degree programme. This includes a monthly mobility grant. The following steps are taken when applying for a place at the partner universities within the framework of Erasmus+:

  • Counselling

First get advice from the exchange coordinator (Dr. Carmen Becker) about the study opportunities at the partner universities so that you can make an informed and goal-oriented choice.

  • Application

Applications may be submitted to the exchange coordinator by 15 January each year and will be accepted for the following winter semester. Applications received after this date cannot be considered. A complete application includes a current printout of previous study and examination results (e.g., a transcript of records, for Master's students a copy of the BA certificate) and a letter in which you lay out why studying abroad is necessary or interesting for you (e.g., choice of location, personal interests, languages, topics for thesis, career prospects). The selection of candidates is based primarily on grades, motivation and language skills.

At the same time, you fill out the online application on the website of the International Office of our university. Please follow closely the instructions as detailed on the website.

  • Selection

The exchange coordinator selects the candidates for the exchange places available to the Institute for the Studies of Religion. We communicate our decision to the International Office until by 15 February of each year.

  • After selection

Our International Office takes care of the remaining steps after the selection of the candidates. More information about the individual steps can be found here (continue with "2. Nomination and application at the partner university").
