Prof. Detlef Pollack: Public guest lecture as part of the seminar "Debating the Secular"
Detlef Pollack is a professor of the Sociology of Religion at the University of Münster. His areas of interest include differentiation theory, religious change in Western and Eastern Europe and the U.S., and political culture in Eastern and East-Central Europe. For more information, visit his personal website at the University of Münster.
In the context of the seminar "Debating the Secular", we're exploring, among other things, the question of the extent to which Western categories such as "religion" and "secularity" are suitable as analytical concepts for global, cross-cultural research. There is a lively debate on this in the Study of Religion and related disciplines. To discuss the issue, we have invited Prof. Detlef Pollack who represent a particular position in the debate. The public guest lecture will take place online via Webex.
