Prof. Christoph Kleine: Public guest lecture as part of the seminar "Debating the Secular"
Christoph Kleine is professor of the History of Religion at the Leipzig University. His areas of interest include Buddhism in East Asia and Historical Sociology of Religion, especially the formation of 'religion' and 'secularities' in East Asia. For more information, visit his personal website at the Leipzig University.
In the context of the seminar "Debating the Secular", we're exploring, among other things, the question of the extent to which Western categories such as "religion" and "secularity" are suitable as analytical concepts for global, cross-cultural research. There is a lively debate on this in the Study of Religion and related disciplines. To discuss the issue, we have invited Prof. Christoph Kleine who represent a particular position in the debate. The public guest lecture will take place online via Webex.
